Biography (long):
For nearly two decades, Delhi 2 Dublin has been at the forefront of South Asian fusion music, architecting a global bass sound they call “Subcontinental Pop”, a high-energy blend of Bhangra, electronic, hip-hop, reggae, and Celtic influences that defies genre and unites dance floors worldwide. As they celebrate their monumental 20th anniversary in 2026, the band enters a new creative era, is re-energized, reinspired, and releasing new music for the first time in over six years. Founding members Sanjay Seran and Ravi Binning continue to lead the charge, pushing Delhi 2 Dublin’s sound and vision to new heights, while balancing legacy with reinvention
What began as a one-night collaboration at Vancouver’s Celtic Fest in 2006 quickly evolved into a global phenomenon. Originally conceived as a one-off performance, the explosive chemistry between the musicians sparked immediate momentum, launching Delhi 2 Dublin from underground bass parties and jam-band festival circuits to some of the biggest stages in the world. They’ve performed everywhere from Electric Forest (USA), Glastonbury (UK), Burning Man (USA), Bali Spirit Festival (Indonesia), to Woodford Folk Festival (Australia), connecting scenes, cultures and audiences across continents.
From sweaty warehouse raves in Vancouver to being invited to performances in the Kingdom of Brunei, their music has traveled the globe, earning them the reputation for delivering “90 minutes of freebasing joy” wherever they land.
The band’s ability to seamlessly blend acoustic and electronic elements is a defining trait. Their high-energy sets feature hypnotic dhol, tabla rhythms, deep basslines, and soaring violin melodies, creating an immersive musical experience. For over a decade, violinist Serena Eades has been a driving force in the band’s sound and in front of audiences, bringing Berklee-trained musicianship and electrifying stage presence to enrich Delhi 2 Dublin’s ever-evolving sound.
With a discography that includes critically acclaimed albums like Planet Electric (2010), Turn Up The Stereo (2012), and We’re All Desi (2015), Delhi 2 Dublin has consistently pushed the boundaries of South Asian music. Their 2019 album, We Got This, produced by Juno Award-winning Gavin Brown, marked a major milestone, earning commercial radio play for the song “My People” and reflecting a more refined, socially conscious songwriting approach. This album saw them embracing themes of identity, cultural crossover, and resilience, connecting deeply with fans from all walks of life. Their innovative approach has secured top spots on international world music charts, millions of streams, multiple Western Canadian Music Awards, and recognition from major platforms like CBC Music, BBC Asian Network, and PBS.
Now entering their next evolution, Delhi 2 Dublin welcomes producer, keyboardist, and tabla player Kal Mattu, who brings a renewed vibrancy to their ever-evolving sound. This infusion of talent, combined with their signature fusion of infectious hooks and pounding rhythms, ensures their next chapter will be as boundary-breaking and high-energy as ever. This new chapter builds on everything the band has established, not as a reunion or nostalgia act, but as a forward-moving force in global bass culture.
With new music on the horizon and an ambitious touring chapter ahead, Delhi 2 Dublin is set to reaffirm their place as one of Canada’s most enduring and influential global music exports, and remind the world why they’ve remained at the top of the global bass music scene for two decades. The party isn’t slowing down, it’s just getting started.
